Another One Bites the Dust: Pedroia back to DL: And Another One Down And Another One Down
Two days after returning to the line up, from a fractured foot, 2B Dustin Pedroia is heading back to the DL, this time with no time table for a return.
“I have to make sure I’m OK,” Pedroia said. “If I hurt myself bad, not only could it mess me up for next year, it can mess me up for my career. Hopefully I don’t do that.”
I think it is now safe to say that Big Papi and Adrian Beltre risked getting popped for using HGH this season for nothing. Sure their power numbers are back from 2004, but it does not look like the cavalry is coming back from IR in time to make a push for the play-offs.
[Note: I wrote this for my counter part on this site, who always points out when the Sox win like it matters.]
[Additional Note: Big Papi - Manny = A Big F'n Zero]
No More No Hitters
Thank you Matt Garza, Dallas Braden, Edwin Jackson, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Roy Halladay, it was great, but we have had enough now. It is supposed to be a rarity. Halladay and Jimenez will likely be able to add them to what will be very impressive years, and careers. The rest of you basically won the lottery the same night as a million other people.
I bet Armando Galarrage stopped caring that an amp robbed him of a perfect game. Brandon Morrow took a no-no into the 9th with two outs and it just wasn’t that big of a deal. It means so little right now that Kevin Slowey was taken out of a game during a no-hit bid. The only people that should care right now are batters because they should be ashamed of themselves.
Nationals Sign #1 Draft Pick Bryce Harper

You can thank super-agent Scott Boras for the the theatrics, as the Washington Nationals were pushed to the brink of failure as the clock inched towards a midnight deadline last night, threatening the future of a miserable franchise looking to build on it’s failure with two of the best #1 draft picks in back to back seasons ever put together.
17-year-old hitting sensation, Bryce Harper, received a $9.9 million deal that will bring him to the big show within the next 4 years. Considering the money spent on Harper, you can bet on seeing him within 3 years if the Nationals plan on winning before Washington fans forget about these kids.
Sure, it remains to be seen if Harper’s potential will translate to success at the highest level, but it’s safe to say, he’s already better than most of the guys already on the current roster.
Mets’ Francisco Rodriguez Injured in Family Brawl, Schedules Season Ending Surgery
The Mets are used to their players getting hurt on the field by now, but are relatively new to their players getting injured in the clubhouse.
Mets closer, Francisco Rodriguez, was arrested at Citi Field last week following a brawl he had with 59 year old Carlos Pena, who is being reported as the grandfather of Rodriguez’s children. Rodriguez was apparently rumored to be upset with Pena’s treatment of Frankie’s grandmother, who raised him as her own. Pena is allegedly living in one of Rodriguez’s houses and using his car, which tends to lead to problems for pro athletes supporting their families.
The Mets are investigating whether Rodriguez’s injury was in fact a result of the brawl or if it was a baseball injury, which is doubtful considering Rodriguez’s injury is to his punching throwing hand. Pena was reportedly thrown and punched by Rodriguez during the scuffle. If the Mets can prove that his injury was related to an off-field incident, they can avoid paying Rodriguez the remaining salary he is owed for this season, which would amount to around $5 million or so.
JERK OF THE WEEK
As if playing for the NY Mets was not hard enough on RP Francisco Rodriguez (K-ROD), he had to deal with his common law wife’s father telling him to man up and play better. Father, Carlos Pena interrupted an argument between the couple, and then took shots at the pitcher’s game. after messing with a bull Pena got the horns. K-ROD gave the father a much deserved beat down. The fiery closer was then charged with assault and forced to spend the night in a holding cell.
Is this dad serious? Like the bottom of the ninth is the Mets big problem? This guy is probably living in K-ROD’s guest house, drinking pina coladas on a raft in K-ROD’s pool. Who is he to criticize a decorated pitcher? If it wasn’t for Francisco he would probably be on a raft in the middle of the ocean, drinking and eating nothing, just hoping that he will make it to Miami, where he could sell fruit and flowers on the side of the highway.
You Carlos Pena (Daddy in Law) are the JERK OF THE WEEK
Dodging Victory, Phillies Make 8 Run Comeback to Beat LA

The Dodgers took a 7 run lead into the 8th inning, and left it there.
Weak relief batting practice toss pitching by Jonathon Broxton, coupled with epicly poor defense, gave the Phillies 8 runs in the final two innings in Philadelphia last night, adding to LA’s mounting woes as they fall to 4th place and 9 games back in the NL West.
Maybe if Mrs. McCourt would stop trying to be a greedy b*tch and ruin the Dodgers financially, the Dodgers could go out and buy some help.Just sayin.
Hey Joe Torre, how much are you missing NY right now?
For The Record: Dodgers fans couldn’t care less. It’s Raiders season already.
