Weaver Calls Angels Fans’ Booing of Lackey ‘Disappointing’
John Lackey won a World Series and a ton of games for Angels fans over the past 8 years, but once he signed with the Boston Red Sox, none of that matters anymore to Southern California.
“I mean, this guy has done too much for this organization for eight years, and to get an ovation like that was very disappointing…. People don’t understand what happens behind closed doors. All they see is him going to our so-called rival in the playoffs, but he’s a great guy and was a great mentor. I enjoyed my time with him, and I’m glad he was here. I owe a lot of where I am today to that guy.” Weaver said after the Angels’ 4-2 loss on Tuesday night in Anaheim.
Now, I understand Angels fans’ frustration with Lackey, but even Johnny Damon got some applause when he returned to Fenway with the Yanks. Of course he’s now booed every time he steps to the plate there, but they clapped for him once.
Stay classy Anaheim. Don’t be so 909.
Big Papi Still Going Yard in Anaheim
So much for the post Home Run Derby slump.
Big Papi returned to Anaheim, California with the same swagger he left it after the Home Run Derby just two weeks ago, to lift the Sox to a much needed win over the Angels tonight. Newly acquired Angels pitcher, Dan Haren, got a friendly reminder of what American League baseball looked like as Ortiz took him yard in the 3rd inning, before he was knocked out of the game by a Kevin Youkilis liner in the 4th.
Haren had been rotting in Arizona with a ball club that seems determined to be demoted to AAA. Now he can look forward to a grueling battle to get into the post-season only to find out that the Angels usually quit playing baseball about a month too soon to make it into the World Series every season.
Papi capped off the night with a 2 run shot in the 8th that gave Boston the cushion they needed to get only their 5th win since the All-Star break. With 3 home runs in 3 days, it looks as though Big Papi is completely back to form, much to the dismay of Haters everywhere.
So You Think You Can Dance?
The Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim sent scouts to a local pro-league, and believe a few of these players have the perfect skills for their organization.
The Minnesota Twins are known to bring up pitchers who throw strikes. The Tampa Bay Rays go after very athletic and defensive youngsters. The LAA Angeles…They seek not these things.
Why The Angels Don’t Deserve a Championship
The Angels don’t deserve a championship because:
- -They can run and steal, but not jump and land correctly.
- -They let cornerstones like K-Rod, Mark Teixeira, John Lackey, Vladdy, and Chone Figgins leave.
- -They can barely win a division that belongs in the NL.
- -They reside in the OC not LA

- -Their fans probably don’t know they just lost a key part of their offense because they know nothing about baseball.
- -Their fans were probably not there for the injury because they show up in the 3rd inning, Tweet and Facebook that they are at the game, and leave in the 7th.
- -Their fans do not wear the correct size jerseys and leave the brim of their hats flat.
- -Their rally monkey is stupid, and signifies that their fans like it in the behind to play from behind
- -Their red and white colors clash with their fans orange skin.
- -Their fans are supposed to drink beer and eat hot-dogs, not sniff yayo and eat protein bars.

I know this story is not new, but I had to let myself cool down a little after learning my fantasy first basemen, who I just traded for, would likely be out for the remainder of the season after hitting a walk off grand slam, only to break his ankle celebrating on home plate.

Mets Sign Injury Prone Gary Matthews Jr. to Add Depth to IR
The New York Mets have spent a lot of time working on their roster during this year’s offseason, and came to the decision that their IR was lacking depth at the outfield position making acquiring another injury prone player a priority this week.
They couldn’t wait to scoop up Matthews from the Angels who were even willing to pay the Mets $22 million to take him off their hands, trading Brian Stokes for the centerfielder today.
Matthews is looking forward to joining a team full of broken players much like himself, and not having the pressure of winning playoff games on his back anymore.
New York Mets Sign Injured Pitcher
We joked a lot about the Mets’ proclivity for injuries last season, but now the Mets are signing players that are already hurt.
Former LA Angels pitcher, Kelvim Escobar has signed a one-year $1.25 million dollar deal to probably sit in the Mets bullpen with a bunch of other rag armed injured players. Escobar has spent the majority of the past two seasons on the Angels IR with a bum shoulder. Unsurprisingly, the Mets team medical director, Dr. David Altchek is the surgeon who repaired Escobar’s shoulder in the summer of 2008. Since that miraculous medical feat, Escobar has made one start.
Strange, I would think the medical director of the Mets would be a better surgeon considering he gets so much practice.
