Novak Djokovic is to Serbia what Usain Bolt is to Jamaica, what David Ortiz is to the Dominican Republic, and what John Stamos is to Greece. He’s a legend there, and legends get statues. Tim Tebow has one in Florida. Jerry West has one in LA. And now Novak Djokovic has one in the central Serbian town of Jagodina.
So what if it’s not bronze. Bronze is overrated, and in an World economy like this, it’s downright irresponsible. That’s why the local wax museum in Jagodina was the perfect place for Djokovic to be immortalized alongside the likeness of fellow athlete and Serbian superhero, Vlade Divac.

Djokovic stopped by in an official ceremony today where museum officials unveiled the statue long enough for some photos ops, and then quickly went back to their creepy workshop to begin their annual tradition of adding a knee brace to Greg Oden’s wax likeness for a couple of months.
