David Tyree Would Trade the Helmet Catch for Ban on Gay Marriage

Without this catch, you are nothing.

Recently, disgraced former Giants Super Bowl hero (not Plaxico, the other one) David Tyree has been on an anti-gay marriage crusade. He’s gone so far to say that he would give up his famous Helmet Catch if it meant that gay marriage would be banned. I can’t even begin to describe the stupidity of this statement.

But I’ll try. First of all, David, no one would have any fucking clue who you were if it wasn’t for the Helmet Catch. Without that catch, you’d be flying cargo planes full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong and no one would care what you thought about gay marriage. On second thought, I’m not sure why anyone cares anyway. I guess because he’s a former professional athlete? Not really clear on why that gives him any authority to speak intelligently on issues such as this, but that’s neither here nor there.

Secondly, as a Giants fan, this pisses me right off. That was one of the greatest nights of my life and this Bible thumping asshole is ready to trade it all away just to make sure two dudes can’t legally tie the knot. Whatever. He can wish he for trading the Helmet Catch for a ban on gay marriage all he wants but it’s not happening! He made that catch and that’s that. Whatever he wants to do now is fine by me, even if it means he’s a completely nut.

For the Record: Now, I’m not married but from what I understand by nearly all accounts, marriage is a pretty miserable existence. The nagging, the arguing, the in-law visits, the same old boring sex; shouldn’t gay people be subjected to the same marital pain as straight people?
