In the past, LeBron said that he believed Michael Jordan’s number #23 should be retired league-wide, and that he would was considering changing his number in an attempt to lead that movement.
Today, while the whole world is waiting to see if LeBron’s jersey will still have the Cavs logo on it next season, he went ahead and filed to at least change the number, to #6.
Now everyone is arguing that #6 is Bill Russell’s and Julius Erving’s number, but as great as they were, LeBron James grew up a Jordan fan like everyone else in the 90′s. He wasn’t jocking NBA footage from the 60′s and 70′s.
Personally I don’t think it matters if LeBron even wears a number anymore. He should have to wear boxing gloves just to even the playing field.
