According to the Kansas City Star, a fan is suing the Royals after a wiener struck him in the eye, detaching his retina and causing cataracts. The wiener came from the mascot Sluggerr and was thrown not shot from his cannon. The man is only asking for $25,000 and is said to have been operated on twice already. The team is hoping to settle, but Sluggerr is said to be on hand to testify, if need be.
The state of Missouri, however, is not being so light on the subject. They are suggesting that the shape of the national past time’s favorite food should be changed, and the right to throw them should be stripped from vendors. Missouri will be left with their crappy weather, crappy professional sports teams, overrated college basketball team, and, I don’t know, square hot dogs.
I guess the fans are as good at catching as their players, good thing it wasn’t a foul ball.
