Mets Sign Injury Prone Gary Matthews Jr. to Add Depth to IR

The New York Mets have spent a lot of time working on their roster during this year’s offseason, and came to the decision that their IR was lacking depth at the outfield position making acquiring another injury prone player a priority this week.

They couldn’t wait to scoop up Matthews from the Angels who were even willing to pay the Mets $22 million to take him off their hands, trading Brian Stokes for the centerfielder today.

Matthews is looking forward to joining a team full of broken players much like himself, and not having the pressure of winning playoff games on his back anymore.
