Jim Caldwell is a Crappy Role Model

As Jim Caldwell and the Colts laid down and died on national television today, I realized that the sissification of America is finally complete. Other sports blogs will argue whether or not Caldwell’s decision is right or wrong. Passing judgement on a rookie head coach who was handed the keys to a Rolls Royce of a football team with the only goal being not to crash it.

I will not discuss his decision. I will not discuss whether it was right or wrong, but I will say that, as an American, I am disgusted with any professional team that would quit on their fans in the run for glory. Why bother rooting for the Colts if they’re only doing enough to get by? What does this teach the children watching the game? Only do enough to get by? Once your goal is within reach you can relax and not work as hard? Don’t give it your all or you may get hurt? The Jets are a good football team?

That’s all crap.

Long before the days of face guards for Little League hitters, Title 9, and coach-pitch baseball (whatever the heck that is) sports was for the strong and determined. Today everyone plays, and everyone gets trophies.

Where I’m from, losers don’t get trophies, and the Colts are losers.

I hope Jim Caldwell and the Indianapolis Colts lose their first game of the playoffs by 40 points. Not as a Patriots fan, but as an American.
